The River Pedieos menders along the city of Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. Nicosia is the only capital city in the world that is divided by the famous green line. The green line was established in the 1964 by general Peter Young and was later the dividing line between Greeks and Turks. Cutting Cyprus into two, the green line has only become passable in some places since 2004. The River Pedieos is not used for commercial boating and quite impassable in many places. Around you will find olive groves, hills, beaches and plenty of sunshine. The old wall of the capital city is a popular tourist attraction offering plenty of ancient historic buildings.
Real estate around the River Pedieos is currently limited with many properties quietly hidden away amongst lush forest. Plans to build bicycle lanes and walkways along the river are soon taking shape with its first stages. Relaxing parks, bird song, the gentle patter patter of the water and great weather all year round make this part of Cyprus especially lovely.
